Our fifth-grade students recently took center stage during a memorable Author’s Share, welcoming parents and members of the school community to celebrate their hard work as writers.

During the event, students proudly presented their realistic fiction stories, showcasing the creativity, effort, and growth they have developed throughout the writing process. Beyond sharing their own work, students demonstrated strong reflection skills by offering one another thoughtful “glows” and “grows,” highlighting strengths while suggesting meaningful areas for improvement.

The Author’s Share was made even more special by the incredible support from families. Parents actively participated in the experience, engaging in discussions with students and providing valuable feedback. The overwhelmingly positive responses from families reflected not only the students’ dedication, but also the strong instruction, preparation, and collaboration of the fifth-grade teaching team.

“It was especially meaningful to see students confidently sharing their writing and respectfully supporting one another. The feedback from parents truly reflected the care and effort that went into preparing students for this experience.” - Mr. Perez

Events like the Author’s Share create authentic learning opportunities that connect classroom instruction with our broader school community. We are proud of our fifth graders for their courage, creativity, and commitment to growing as writers—and grateful to our families and staff for helping make this celebration such a success.

Way to go 5th Grade!
