Wiesbaden Elementary Celebrates Gratitude and Literacy With Annual Thankful Feast
WIESBADEN, Germany — Wiesbaden Elementary School’s third grade and second/third multi-grade classrooms transformed their learning spaces into a celebration of family, food and literacy during the annual Thankful Feast Literacy Event on Nov. 24, 2025. Families were invited to join students for a Thanksgiving-style meal, contributing dishes that filled the tables with turkey, ham, sweet potato casserole, cookies and pies—creating a warm, familiar atmosphere reminiscent of a holiday gathering.
The event gave students an opportunity to share classroom projects, read stories aloud and reflect on what they are most thankful for. Parents, grandparents, siblings and visiting relatives filled the rooms, creating an environment rich with connection and joy. “There’s nothing like bringing a warm meal together to celebrate all we’re thankful for,” one teacher said as families gathered around the tables.
For many students, the most memorable moment was seeing loved ones arrive. “I wasn’t sure if my mom was going to make it, but she did. I almost cried when I saw her!” one third grader shared. Whether students spent the meal with family members or with classmates and teachers, the spirit of gratitude was unmistakable throughout the event.
The Thankful Feast highlighted the school’s commitment to literacy while strengthening the partnership between home and classroom. As laughter and conversation filled the air, the celebration underscored the idea that learning thrives in communities built on connection, gratitude and shared experiences.
