Welcome back to SY 25/26

Welcome to the 2025–2026 School Year, Wiesbaden Families,

I’m excited to welcome you all—whether you’re joining us for the first time or returning for another year—back to Wiesbaden Elementary School!

It’s a privilege to begin another school year as your principal. We remain focused on DoDEA’s mission: excellence in education for every student, every day, everywhere. At WES, that means continuing to grow together, learn from each other, and support every child along the way.

Looking back, we’re proud to have met our school-wide math goal last year. That success speaks to the hard work of our students, teachers, and families. At the same time, we know there’s more work to do in literacy. We didn’t meet our school-wide literacy goal, and that’s something we’re tackling head-on this year with renewed energy and support.

Our theme this year is “Next Steps Toward Greatness: Cultivating Connections.” It’s about building stronger relationships—between students, staff, families, and our community—because we know that when we’re connected, students grow and thrive.

To our new families, welcome! We’re so glad you’re here. To our returning families, thank you for your continued support. Whether it’s volunteering during lunch, joining the PTO or School Advisory Committee, or just staying in touch, we truly value your partnership.

This year, we’ll continue using data to guide our decisions and lean into strong, research-based teaching practices. We’re also inviting you to be part of shaping our School Action Plan (SAP) for 2024–2026—your voice and perspective matter.

We’re looking forward to a great year ahead—learning, connecting, and growing together.

Thank you for being a part of our community.
Ms. Harwell

Exploring Communities Beyond Geography

This month, third graders at Wiesbaden Elementary School learned firsthand what it means to be part of a community—and how community extends far beyond just a place. As part of our English Language Arts Benchmark Advanced curriculum, students in Unit Seven have been exploring the essential question: What is a community? Through authentic guest presentations, they gained valuable insights into how communities are shaped not just by geography, but by shared values and learning together.
