Wiesbaden Elementary hosts STEAM Day focused on aviation
Students at Wiesbaden Elementary School took flight during a special STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) Day event focused on aviation.
The highlight of the day was a visit from guest speakers with the 1-214th General Support Aviation Battalion, stationed at Clay Kaserne, who shared insights on the mechanics of helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft. Throughout the day, students engaged in hands-on activities exploring the science behind helicopter aerodynamics, the art of aviation design, and writing exercises. They were tasked with projects that brought real-world aviation concepts to life, reinforcing classroom lessons.
Partner and group work encouraged students to apply their social-emotional learning skills, fostering teamwork and collaboration. Meanwhile, interviews with the aviation guests gave students a chance to practice their communication skills and gain valuable perspectives from those in the field.
